DOG GONer

Little Joey's dog  had died
 and he was lonely . He quickly decided
 it would be more fun if he bought
 another pet.

 So Joey went  to the  pet store
 and told the owner  he wanted to buy
 another pet,  this time, not a dog,   
but a talking pet.

 After listening to a French speaking parrot,
 a Spanish speaking Macaw and
 an English speaking Centipede,  
 little Joey finally bought the centipede.

The little crawling bug lived inside
 a house which Joey made for him
 from a little white pencil box .  

Joey took the box home.
 He found a good place to put it
 and talked with his new friend every day.

One day, Joey decided he'd  take
 his new pet to show and tell at school
 and show it off.

 He called through a little door,
" Would you like to go to school with me today?" 
 "Would you like to go meet my teacher?"
"See all my class mates?"  

But there was no answer from
 his new pet.  This bothered Joey a bit
, but he waited a few minutes and
 then asked his pet again,
"How about Show and tell?"

But again, there was no answer
 from his new friend.
 
  So Joey waited a few minutes more, 
  He decided to ask him one last time
, shouting, "Hey, you in there!
  WOULD YOU LIKE TO GO TO
 SCHOOL WITH ME OR NOT? 
  

A little voice came out of the box:
 "I heard you the first time!"
 " Keep your shirt on,
  I'm putting on my shoes."
